UNALIENABLE

BOOKS

Home: About

Why, on earth, write another book, let alone a series of books, on the Declaration and the Constitution?

I'll answer with a question:

Why is the Constitution the supreme law of the land?

If the answer is to stare blankly at this screen...this book series is for you.

If the answer is: "Because it says so"...this book series is for you.

If you still believe, "Because it says so," is the correct answer...this book series is really for you.

"Because I said so," has never been a satisfactory answer. Even little children hate this answer. Think back, you know it's true. King George tried it and lost the American colonies for his trouble.

The reason the Constitution is the supreme law of the land is it is the only piece of legislation passed by "the people." Its passage by the people is what gives it its power. Since the source of all power is the people, that makes this particular piece of legislation the supreme law of the land, and includes laws and treaties made in pursuance of or under the authority thereof (the rest of Article VI, Clause 2). Thus, laws and/or treaties that are "unconstitutional" have no power.

To answer the question, "What is the supreme law of the land," requires a mere rote or lowest level of learning.

To answer the question, "Why is the Constitution the supreme law of the land," requires some level of understanding, a higher level of learning about the Constitution, that is sadly lacking in a society governed by that very document.

The Unalienable series of books is designed to take the reader from, "This is what it says," to, "This is why it says what it does."

I hope you enjoy them!
